Other Services
Offered
Advocacy – Although C.L.S.C.
is a service provider, its most
important role is advocacy.
Early Childhood Resource Teacher
Service – The service integrates
children into childcare centres in
the three united counties. Each
child has an individual educational
plan. Approximately 30 children are
supported each year.
Living Skills and Social
Recreational Activities – The
agency is mandated to provide
community based Living Skills and
Social Recreational Activities to
sixty-six (66) people.
Vocational Training – The
agency is mandated to provide
community based Vocational-Training
and Job Placement opportunities to
thirty-eight (38) people.
Residential Supports – The
agency is mandated to provide
residential supports for thirty-four
(33) people.
24 hour group homes – 6
locations 23 people
Less than 24 hour support – 6
apartments 10 people
Home share – This service
helps to recruit fostering families
for individuals who want to remain
part of a family unit. These
placements can be full or part time
partnerships. The Home Share may act
as a stepping-stone, or preparation
to independent living in the
community. We offers information,
confidential screening, careful
matching, support throughout the
match and financial honorarium.
Supported Independent Living
– The agency is mandated to provide
Supported Independent Living Skills
to nine (9) people who live in their
own community settings.
Respite – Other community
agencies provide formal respite
services. Our agency does, however,
offer two forms of the service
Brokerage - for a family that
receives funding for respite. The
family hires people to provide
support in their own home and
invoices the agency according to a
pre-approved budget that was
approved through the S.D.&G. Service
Coordination Committee and the
Ministry.
We offer the use of a
non-residential house we own (it is
a skills training centre) to allow
parents to spend weekends away from
home, while their son or daughter
stays at home. This allows children
to stay in a familiar environment,
instead of always having the child
leave home for periods of respite.
All we provide is the use of the
facility. There is no charge for the
use of the building.
Foundations – This service
provides a transition from school to
day activities. Community Living
Dundas County manages this
initiative and purchases service for
Stormont County from C.L.S.C. People
served are between the ages of 18
and 28 years. The number of people
served depends on the availability
of funds. |
